Blogger event and introduction to Kiss the Moon

So I was very lucky to be invited to a band new blogger event in Sheffield last weekend that my daughter Holly-Lucy and her blogger friend Lorna  have collaborated on to bring bloggers together through #TheCityGirls

What an amazing event it was!  Held in the vintage style setting of Bloo88 West Street, Sheffield.

There were lots of lovely brands there which will feature in a future blog post!

We were so lucky to also be given an absolutely bursting at the seams goody bag!

The first item out of my bag was a beautiful sample from Kiss the Moon
What a lovely brand name, beautiful website and amazing after dark face oil!

This is a gorgeous face oil for use at bedtime to chase away anxieties and lift the spirit encouraging beautiful sleep!

Perfect for dry skin , this is a definite favourite of mine and I look forward to my bedtime routine of splashing a few drops of the oil into my palm, rubbing my hands together to warm the oil and release the gorgeous  orange, geranium, myrrh and litsea heady scent.

£48 for 30ml of deliciousness to welcome a beautiful sleep.

The range also includes Love and Calm after dark oils with equally tempting and evocative scents I would just love to try!

Have you used this brand before?  Which scent is your favourite?

Decoupage tin trunk

So I have a number of old tin trunks that have been around for years, handy for putting stuff in but they have rusted and been knocked about a bit.  I decided to try some decoupage on my smallest trunk and this is the result........

So I sanded the trunk to get off loose bits of rust and paint......

I undercoated it and painted the brackets, fixings and detail in old brass paint

I then covered the whole trunk in index pages from an old atlas to give me a base to work from and then added maps, pictures and some Graphics Fairy images

The clasp to close the trunk was missing so I threaded some black ribbon through the holes , if I come across a clasp at any point I may replace it but I quite like the look.  I then brushed some brown pastel chalk over the whole thing to age the colours then varnished a few times.  I really love the finished result.

Blueberries and Decoupage

So I found this little wooden box in a charity shop for £1 and had recently purchased a load of lovely old but very worn books, atlas etc.  I decided to cover the box in the index pages of a natural history book and then used the insect pages for my pictures!  It is lovely I think and I really enjoyed making it- my tin trunk is coming along, being made in the same sort of way- will post pics of it when done!

I decided to place a butterfly inside the lid too.
Varnishes with high gloss varnish which really protects it.
And here they are the first of our Welsh Blueberries- and we have loads- just need to stop eating them straight from the bush and let them get to the kitchen!!!  Yum!

Pin Cushion in a cup!!

So I have a few of these little coffee cups and saucers - got them free with lovely packets of biscuits a while ago.  And I need a pin cushion- I saw this idea in Cloth magazine (a lovely little mag full of ideas!) it took 20 minutes to make so just up my street for quick makes!!  I love it and will probably make more !!!
